Joe Stoneman is a Devon-based contemporary artist who paints in the 'traditional' way. Joe has been compared to Andy Warhol for his 'graphical' leaning - and the fact he shares Warhol's view of his own art being 'superficial'! Although possible career suicide to claim that his own work has no meaning, Joe still believes in the decorative qualities of art.
He also thinks that "contemporary art galleries prefer to deny any 'decorative' label in order to sell you promises of 'meaning' and 'depth' - then take the buyer's money when they are sold on their bull**t". Joe seems to prefer honesty - we think he'll never get rich in the contemporary art business!!
